Apr 1, 2009 National Legislative Director James Stem reports House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson is concerned that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has fumbled the ball on implementation of the Transportation Worker Identity Card (TWIC), and has asked labor for a list of transportation employees that have been identified as needing a TWIC, and have not received it.
If you know the names of members involved in delayed implementation of the TWIC, please share the names and the location of the problem with National Legislative Department at utunld@aol.com.
The Washington office will compile the information and share it with Chairman Thompson's office. Our only interest in this process is to help ease the burden for our members and make sure they are not sanctioned for the failure of DHS.
